Qubik invited me to collaborate on some schematic diagrams, interpreting installation artist Haroon Mirzas’ work. Publsihed inside the book ‘‘/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/| A User’s Manual’ featuring Haroons work, designed by Qubik. Was a great experience getting to know Haroons work more closely - researching electronic components and making shapes with Joe (Qubik) in his studio.

I’ve just moved studio and am temporarily residing with Catalogue, before I move to London this summer. So… with the move decided to spring clean my personal website. To make it less about exhibiting commercially viable work & more about documenting projects I’ve worked / am working on. I’ve always struggled with representing myself online, there’s something uncomfortable with it visually that I can’t put my finger on, I don’t like being overly descriptive about work and find it difficult to articulate the breadth of work I do - aside from image making. This site is just another attempt to develop and think about a way I can resolve the issues I have with websites. Have also added some recent things to the shop.
An editorial I did for the lovely Barcelona based bueno brilliance of Publications of Pleasure (http://publicationsforpleasure.com/) reached me surrounded by the rest of the magazine. This issue is about food, experiences with cooking. It’s a very nicely put together thing, with drawings, words - Spanish words and English words - and photos. You can learn how to make chestnut balls which looks like a fun thing to do.

ARKRA is a playful experiment with palindromes and association, creating a loosely-implied cosmological narrative through repetition, reflection, colour, line and form.
These images have been developed from work made for an exhibition with Human Empire and Sergio Membrillas in Hamburg, November 2012.

Pick me up 2013 baby!
Beach Gallery (http://beachlondon.co.uk/) asked us to put some work in their room alongside some good dudes and great bros. We each made one element, Nicolas made a set of large lino prints, Jay made a set of three handmade painted cushions and I made a selection of ceramics entitled ‘Aspirational Home Visit’.
A couple of drawings from my new book ‘making a way’. Very loosely based on Marcel Marceau, Bip the Clown, about being frustrated and enlightened through activity. Launching at Nous Vous contribution to Beach London at Pick Me Up - opening this Thursday. Also produced some hand-made cushions - photos soon.
We were asked to design the Cover sleeve and a Wrapping paper design for the latest edition of the awesome Wrap magazine about collaboration ‘Drawn Together’ - nice wordplay. They also asked us to answer a few questions relating to collaboration for the innards. The issue features lots of other collectives who take different approaches to collaborating, which I’m looking forward to reading and discovering more about. Buy one here:
Pop by and say hello Easter Monday!? I’ll be residing - artistically - within ‘Spur Exchange’ a temporary project space located in Leeds Corn Exchange, functioning as an artists’ studio, discussion space, workshop, printing press and gallery.’
I’m going to be drawing all day from 11am - 5pm - attempting to conceive and create the cover for the next issue of ‘Spur Magazine’ as well as designing and doodling a feature about myself for inside. I’ll be going through several processes throughout the day, explaining what I’m doing and demonstrating how I do it. NO JOKE! (< that’s an April the first joke!)

My girlfriend is running the 2013 London Marathon and this print has been made specially to help raise money for her charity of choice, Sparks.
Sparks funds pioneering research into a range of conditions affecting babies, children and mums-to-be. Everyone who runs the marathon has to promise to raise a certain amount of money for a charity, and all money from sales of this print will go to Sparks. http://www.sparks.org.uk

Some snapshots of Nous Vous’ workshop at the British Museum today which accompanies the ‘Ice Age Art’ exhibition. Schoolchildren were encouraged to create work about their lives now that people might see in thousands of years’ time.

The Ecology of Colour project we worked last year with Studio Weave and Artlands has been re photographed to show the majestic ‘beak’ element at the front of the structure and also the internal furniture that is self contained as part of the structure. We wanted to show this to show off about just how good Studio Weave are!

We’re now supporting #includedesign.
‘Ebacc’ is the newly introduced secondary school education curriculum, it doesn’t feature design or art as one of it’s core subjects. #Includedesign is lobbying and gaining support toward proposing to feature Design as one of the core subjects. I think it’s extremely important, vital even, that design is featured.
There’s lots of intelligent people, with more articulate arguments than I can muster, in support of introducing design into the curriculum to be found on their dedicated website. This is really important and we urge you to investigate further:

I was kindly asked to contributed a drawing to ‘Limner Journal 2’, which is being launched on the 24th January at Beach London, from 6-9pm. Published by Studio Operative www.studio-operative.co.uk
Limner is a new critical journal of illustration. It’s aim is to provide a platform for the exploration, critique and contextualisation of contemporary illustration. Issue #2 takes the form of a 168 page book featuring new writing and illustration from a veritable multitude of contemporary image-makers.

We went to Kingston University last week to spend a couple of days workshopping with the design students there. They were a great, excitable, engaged and energetic bunch and were very patient with our silly games. We specifically concentrated on looking at imagery divorced from text, making connections between forms and objects, seeing things in ambiguous compositions, representing ideas as simply as possible and drawing sounds.
This image was created in response to a text about the sun exploding, by Amy Webster, Barbara Ryan and Louise Delves
A logo we made for a friend’s event where she brought the joys and fun of the Shetland Isles to London for a night. She is planning more and hopefully outside London too.
Info on the first and future events here. I would definitely be there if I wasn’t so terrified by the thought of that much meat, would join in for a dance at least.

Hot off the stamps!
Me and Will spent a day last week creating these pieces (part-print part-original artwork) based on passport stamps and travel stickers. We made a cover for OWT magazine a few months back with a similar design, but we liked the idea enough to want to make a proper edition out of it.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of our work is that we get to go to different places to exhibit or collaborate on projects. This piece is a celebration of our collective wanderings.

At the risk of seeming like there’s a bit of theme occurring, I thought I’d share a table I made recently. A pretty simple coffee table with ceramic legs. We recently moved into an unfurnished flat which is liberating after living around other people’s things for so many years. As well as scouring freecycle and ebay I have inspired to build, using the small set of skills I have available.

Recent drawing. Still figuring out this way of drawing, figuratively, technique & interpretation is coming along nicely. I was trying to draw 2 people eating soup, they decided to embrace each other for a dance.
Did another quick editorial for Bloomberg yesterday, was tough one and I went to cartoon time on a bit of pastiche of an obscure 80s Sci Fi film. In real digital life here
